        Sarawak offers a safe, clean and pleasant working and living environment.  Foreign investors and their families are assured of the customary comforts during their stay.

        Sarawak has all the modern facilities and amenities for good and comfortable life for the expatriates and their families. Those coming to Sarawak from abroad can easily and comfortably immerse themselves with the local communities and working environments.

        For those with school-age children, there is a wide choice of public and private education. The Tunku Putra International School and the Lodge School provide education of international standards. There are also local colleges, which offer twinning under graduate programmes with universities in United Kingdom and Australia.

        Sports amenities such as modern golf courses, private clubs, entertainment spots and shopping centres are also available in all the urban centres in Sarawak.

         Housing is plentiful. A wide selection of comfortable and affordable housing is available for rent or purchase.  Foreigners are allowed to buy houses or condominiums under the Special Development Areas (SDA) with strata titles.

A.  GOOD LEISURE CENTRES & EXCELLENT RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

        In Sarawak, the environment is clean, refreshing and not stressful. The high standard of living, complemented by modern amenities, is comparatively cheaper than most modern cities. This good quality of life is complemented by the availability of good leisure centres and recreational facilities. Government-run sports centres, privately-run recreational clubs and other leisure facilities are available in major towns of Sarawak. There are many international class beach resorts, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in which leisure and aoutdoor activities organized throughout the year.

       There are also golf courses such as The Damai Golf Course, Borneo Highland Golf Course and Kelab Golf Sarawak (Sarawak Golf Club) in Kuching are good venues for putting off for the golf enthusiasts. There are good golf courses in Miri City, Sibu and Bintulu as well.

        In addition, there are well-equipped fitness centres, gymnasiums and public pools throughout major towns of Sarawak.

2.   GOOD HEALTHCARE & MEDICAL FACILITIES

        The state government knows the importance of a healty population. As a result, there are good public and private healthcare and medical facilities that ensure the general population remains healthy.

        Generally, all government general hospitals provide free treatment for government employees and charge a minimal fee for non-government employees and tourists. In Kuching , the medical equipment at Kuching General Hospital is up-to-date and provides services in specialized fields such as radiotheraphy, ophthalmology, cardiology and etc.

        The Normah Medical Centre, Kuching Specialist Centre and Timberland Medical Centre are private hospitals with medical staff, locally and internationally-trained, whose medical qualifications and experience are highly regarded. In addition to these in the Kuching area, there are other private healthcare and medical facilities in Sibu, Miri and Bintulu.

        Based on figures from the Malaysian Medical Association, consultation fees from general practitioners/ physicians/ pediatricians/ psychiatrists are reasonable which range from RM30 to RM180.
